I made the moment a crane surges into flight the hero of the mural. The huge open wings are the strongest line you can read from across a street, so that is where I put the weight and color.

Choices I made

Thick black outline, but I broke it along the top of the lit wing — the wall's sunlight "eats" part of the line. An unbroken outline is the tell of a sticker, not spray.
Palette held to four: teal, magenta, warm cream, black. Behind the bird I layered a cream full moon and a magenta disc so the crane surges up in front of them. More colors would muddy at mural scale.
Drips only under the wings, two or three, placed under the heaviest paint. In real graffiti drips form where the can lingered, not at random.
